How do I choose a design for my tattoo?
Consider your personal interests, meanings, and experiences. Research various styles and book a free consultation to discuss ideas that resonate with you. Bring your ideas to me and let the magic begin.

How can I prepare for my tattoo appointment?
Stay hydrated, eat beforehand, and avoid alcohol or drugs. Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the tattoo area.I want you the be as comfortable as possible. I tattoo some sensitive areas and sometimes clients are unsure what to wear. Let me know if you’re unsure.

What should I expect during the tattoo process?
We will go over sizing, changes, and any questions you may have. We need time for skin prep and stencil application. We can listen to music you like, have the tv on, or just chill while we tattoo. We take as many breaks as you need. We take our time to ensure you’re comfortable throughout the process. I have snacks and water if you need a little something. Expect to have fun! We have a great time!

How long does a tattoo take to complete?
The time depends on the size and complexity of the tattoo. Small tattoos can take 30 minutes, while larger pieces may require several hours or multiple sessions. Keep in mind there is prep time before and after the actual tattoo. I tend to book us lots of time in case we need it. You are only charged for tattoo time, nothing else. So no need to rush things.

How much does a tattoo cost?
Tattoo prices vary based on the artist’s experience, the intricacy of the design, and the time required. It is best to discuss pricing directly with your tattoo artist beforehand. Tattoos are an investment and you get what you pay for. Every tattoo I do gets one free touch up unless on feet or hands. A $40 fee will be required as they tend not to hold as well due to wear and tear.

Is there an age limit for getting a tattoo?
Yes. In Canada, individuals must be at least 18 years old to get a tattoo without parental consent. Some studios allow minors over the age of 16 to get tattoos with parental consent, but this varies by location. We require legal government ID for all tattoo appointments, as per Public Health.

What aftercare is required after getting a tattoo?
Follow the aftercare instructions closely. Generally, keep the area clean, moisturized, and avoid soaking in water or direct sunlight for a few weeks. Be sure to protect your tattoo for years to come by applying sunscreen when outside. It can feel sore for a few days and peel like a sunburn. Keeping tattoo ointment on it protects from scabbing and ink fallout.

Can I get a tattoo if I have sensitive skin or allergies?
Consult with both your tattoo artist and a healthcare professional if you have any concerns. A patch test may be recommended to check for allergic reactions. I have tattooed people with diabetes, eczema, psoriasis, on blood thinners, etc. We discuss your personal situation and move accordingly. We typically use second skin after the tattoo is complete, but can use an alternative non stick pad if needed. Please let me know if you have adhesive sensitivities or allergies.

What if I want to remove or alter my tattoo later?
Tattoo removal is possible through laser treatments, but it can be costly and may require multiple sessions. Discussing the possibility of altering tattoos with a cover up or reworking is also an option.

How can I find a reputable tattoo artist?
Word of mouth is one of the best ways to find someone. Ask your friends and family. You can also research local artists, review their portfolios, read customer reviews, and schedule consultations. Look for artists who specialize in the style you want and maintain a professional and hygienic environment. You can look at the Public Health website to see if a shop has any health infractions.

How can I pay and do I tip?
As a small business, cash is always preferred, but we do accept debit and credit as well. Using a card comes with fees. Tipping is never necessary. Of course, they are always welcome and appreciated. Sharing your experience with Google, friends, family and socials is really appreciated too.

Can I get tattooed while pregnant or breastfeeding?
There are very fixed feelings about this question. I personally will not tattoo someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding. I waited six months after I stopped nursing for my body to regulate from all the hormones. The potential for infection and the hormonal changes can make healing a tattoo harder. It is worth the wait. I am happy to have a consultation for when you are able to get tattooed again, and congratulations!
